Might be some fireworks in the Persian Gulf.  Stayed tuned. For the first time, the United States confiscated cargo in ships loaded with Iran fuel in violation of sanctions and it was the largest confiscation of its kind from anywhere. At the beginning of July, the DOJ sued to get permission to seize the four tankers of oil that Iran was sending to Venezuela. The court gave the DOJ the go-ahead and the US Centcom seized the ships on Aug. 12th. Per the Wall Street Journal The four … [Read more...]

America can use all the help we can get.  China is becoming increasingly militarized and bombastic.  Building a larger Navy and threatening the commercial interests of the South Koreans and Japanese.  We need our allies to step up, these are good first steps. South Korea’s 2021-2025 defense blueprint, which was revealed yesterday, provides fresh details on the plans to develop an aircraft carrier capability for the Republic of Korea (RoK) Navy. The Germans won't pay their fair share in NATO for European defense. They refuse to pay the 2% of their GDP on their military as required by the NATO charter. Let them stand against the Russians themselves?  Seems fair to begin a "decoupling". Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville made it official Tuesday: A headquarters group will be going to Poland as the first move in the major realignment of forces in Europe brought on by President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw about 11,900 … [Read more...]

The Air Force may replace its 218 F-15Es with F-15EXs, which could expand the new program to over 400 aircraft, according to service documents justifying the sole-source contract to Boeing. The Air Force also claims buying the F-15EX will save some $3 billion in military construction and support costs versus buying more advanced F-35s. https://youtu.be/JD33eG8jT_s The revelations and assertions were contained in an F-15EX Justification and Approval (J&A) document, which was dated March … [Read more...]

Army Guard Reorganizes for  Fights with Russia and China

08/03/2020 by JMMLeave a Comment Tagged With: China, Cold War II, National Defense, US Armed Forces

It's notable how the Islamist threat has receded, and emphasis on "near peer" battle engagements has taken center stage.  The 2018 National Defense Strategy has changed all that.  It's major advocate was SecDef General Mattis before resigning over the Syrian deployment. WASHINGTON — The Army National Guard will move most of its brigades under the command of its eight division headquarters as it reorganizes its fighting formations to give the force more combat power and some soldiers new … [Read more...]
